Playa Flamenca

Playa Flamenca is a small beach resort just south of Punta Prima and north of La Zenia on the southern Orihuela Costa Blanca. One of the large developments in Playa Flamenca is the La Florida urbanisation.

Playa Flamenca was created in 1972 by a group of Flemish investors which turned a deserted coastline and beaches into the popular, thriving holiday destination that it is today.

HOW TO GET TO PLAYA FLAMENCA

From Alicante airport, take the N332 road to Cartagena. Stay on this road for approximately 44Km, or 35 minutes, driving at normal speed. By-pass Santa Pola, La Marina, Guardamar, La Mata, Torrevieja, and Punta Prima. Pass through the next small roundabout, and you will be approaching a slip road to the right which is signposted for Playa Flamenca.

The easiest option is to get a Playa Flamenca airport transfer from either the nearest airport which is Alicante airport or Murcia airport to the south. Once at the airport you have a range of different airport transfer options to Playa Flamenca including private shuttle buses, taxis or Playa Flamenca car hire.

WHAT TO DO IN PLAYA FLAMENCA

There are a range of water sports for which you can hire equipment at several locations along the beach to hiring a boat for a day trip to Tabarca island or just a fishing trip to horse riding and walking. To fill the gap a little you may want to do a bit of shopping. Playa Flamenca has a well known Saturday market easy to reach from your Playa Flamenca holiday rental villa or even Torrevieja to the Habanaras shopping centre.

Because the Playa Flamenca weather and climate is so favourable, Playa Flamenca has become a popular tourist destination for sun lovers enjoying approximately 325 sunny days each year.

A vacation to Playa Flamenca can appeal to every member of your family, or for all kinds of holiday makers. Playa Flamenca is suitable for summer or winter holidays as Playa Flamenca has one of the sunniest climates on The Costa Blanca.

Playa Flamenca is a quiet residential area, non-commercialised, but near to all the required holiday facilities, i.e. blue-flag beaches, championship golf, tennis, water sports, aqua parks, and go-carting. Ten minutes walk from a large shopping complex, seven restaurants and five bars serving international cuisine. There are also a few sports bars and karaoke bars where you enjoy live acts and of course be a part of the entertainment.

Torrevieja, a 10 minutes drive away, is a beautiful Spanish town, boasting a marina, waterfront market, street entertainment, shops, numerous cafes, bistros, restaurants, bars, and a beautiful church square. The superb palm-lined promenade and harbour board-walk are the ideal place to go for that evening stroll. Activities to be enjoyed in Playa Flamenca include tennis, watersports, horse riding and fishing.

On the local front, market day in Playa Flamenca is on a Saturday where you can purchase anything from clothes, bags, shoes, fruits and vegetables as well as freshly cooked chickens, paellas and tortillas. The market is situated on the main road running through Playa Flamenca is very well visited and as it is of a very good size.

The Flamenca Beach commercial centre and Via Park are the main locations for bars, shops and restaurants. This lively area has a variety of restaurants serving cuisine from all corners of the globe as well as there being plenty of live entertainment in the many bars. For food shopping we recommend the Mercadona supermarket.

PLAYA FLAMENCA GOLF

Rentable villas and apartments are centrally located for the three main championship golf courses, Golf Villamartin, Las Ramblas and Campoamor.

Playa Flamenca is every golfers Mediterranean dream, with 3 beautiful championship courses of international prestige, within a 10 minutes from Playa Flamenca. Facilities include : Club Hire; Caddie Car & Buggie Hire; Pro Shop; Driving Range; Putting Green; and Restaurant.

The fabulous Villamartin is a frequent venue for the Mediterranean Open. Campoamor golf, set amongst the palm and pine trees is a beauty to behold. Las Ramblas golf, another magnificent course, is a real test of golf. Within a 30 minutes drive, you can select from another 8 courses, each with its own unique design, including the world famous La Manga, and La Finca golf courses. All are challenging, but are most enjoyable to play.

HISTORY

On the historic side, the Orihuela region, with its many museums, churches, and historic buildings, is well worth a visit. The old part of the town of Orihuela was declared a historic-artistic and monumental area in 1969. There are many noble buildings, six of which are declared Cultural Heritage. Culture and history is also in abundance in the nearby towns of Murcia and Cartagena.
