Torrevieja is a lively city that has hosted a lively atmosphere all year round, day and night. There are more than 105,000 inhabitants, 55% of whom are of foreign origin. Torrevieja includes many residential areas that can be grouped into nine main areas, all of which are well served by bars, restaurants and shops while being very residential.


Los Balcones and Los Altos
This area forms the southern border with the Orihuela Costa. It has the main hospital with an hour 24 Accidents and Protection and the wonderful Reina de la Sal Parque which includes free to use the sports facilities.

Acequión and Naufragos
This area has the two sandy beaches of Acequión and Náufragos, the rural coves of Cala Ferris, the Parque Dona Sinforosa and the old port known as Puerto Deportivo Marina Internacional.

Las Naciones
This is the area around the popular Las Naciones Parque with its lakes and artificial islands. The old railway line, which is now an urban greenway for walking and cycling, ends here at Parc Estacion. The old buildings of the train station have been renovated and Ricardo Lafuente Catalans House and the Museum of Natural History, while the Nativity or Belen Museum can be found near the Park of Nations.

Centro and Cura
These areas are the original heart of Torrevieja and are therefore packed with amenities, including the Town Hall and the Tourist Office. The tourist train departs from the wooden huts of the day and night market, the sea and Salt Museum is located next to the Municipal Theater and shows are also offered at the Carmen Virgen Cultural Center and Palacio de Musica. The main shopping street of the church square stretches past and there is a long beach front promenade with the iconic Wave fountain, the impressive and original Casino building and the permanent day and night market. The most modern Marina Salinas is protected by a magnificent 1.3 km long Pier that stretches from the sea and is illuminated at night. There is also the beach Cura, the Vistalegria Promenade, the floating Museums of the Albatros Patrol Boat and the submarine Delfin, the year Boat trips and the summer funfair. Torrevieja's busy weekly market occupies five streets every Friday morning and is the largest in the area of space for more than 1,000 stands.

Habaneras
The Habaneras is the place for the shopping center, the Ozone Entertainment Area with a cinema, a bowling alley, crazy golf and restaurants and the summer Aqualandia water park with slides and rides for the whole family.

Torreta, El Limonar, La Siesta, El Chaparral and San Luis
These residential inner areas are on both sides of the CV95 and are well served by many shopping centers. The old railway runs through here and the Flamingo Water Park is located in La Siesta.

Locas and Calas Blancas
This area includes the sandy beach of Los Locas and the rocky coves of Calas Blancas. These streets are primarily residential and include a number of shopping centers as well as the Semana Santa Museum with statues that are used during the Easter parades.

Agua Nuevas
The large municipal sports complex is located in this residential area. The center, known as both the Infanta Cristina de los Deportes and Sports City Palacio de los Deportes, includes an Olympic size heated indoor pool, two seasonal outdoor pools, courts and locations for all types of sports, a gym, track athletics and stadium Vicente Garcia, home of Torrevieja Football Club with a capacity of 6,000 spectators. All these facilities can be enjoyed by everyone on a pay per use basis. On the other side of the N332 is the imposing Auditorio Internacional which hosts sporadic concerts and has nearly 2,000 seats divided between its two concert halls.

Torre de la Mata
It is the most northerly zone and the area joins Torrevieja La Mata. Its coastline includes the cliffs of Cabo Cervera and it's the beginning of the beach 2,5 km walk from the front of La Mata. The Torre del Moro Parque, with the old watchtower offers impressive views and the area has several shopping centers located between the urbanizations.
