Rojales deputy mayor pledges support for horse rescue centre
ROJALES COUNCIL deputy mayor Imna Chazarra has praised the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre for its tireless work saving abused and neglected horses, ponies and donkeys, after visiting for the first time last week.
During her visit to the Rojales-based centre last Thursday (August 20), Cr Chazarra pledged to help support founders Sue and Rod Weeding, further strengthening the relationship between the rescue centre and Rojales council.
“She was very impressed and moved by the work we’re doing and wants to do anything she can to help. And she really wants to work towards changing and strengthening animal welfare laws in our province,” Sue said.
“It’s incredible how animal welfare is moving forward in Spain and it’s so wonderful to see politicians who are so passionate about animal welfare. It’s really very encouraging for us. We don’t feel like we’re on our own any more.”
The centre, which relies solely on donations to fund its work, now houses more than 90 horses, ponies and donkeys rescued from terrible situations of abuse and neglect.
The rescue centre is desperately seeking volunteers to keep its network of eight charity stores open, especially in the Pilar de la Horadada shop. Those interested in volunteering to work in the shops can call Sue on 652 021 980.
The centre is also looking for donations of large items such as furniture, and a pick-up service can be arranged to collect them from your house. Each shop also offers a delivery service for large items purchased from the charity store.
Every cent donated to the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre or spent in the charity shops goes towards the feeding and care of the more than 90 horses, ponies and donkeys that live at the centre.
The rescue centre, located just outside Rojales at Partido Lo Garriga 59, opens to the public on the first Sunday of every month from 1pm to 4pm. For more details and directions, please visit www.easyhorsecare.net.
