Construction figures close to resembling those of 2007
YEARS after construction cranes and cement mixers ‘stopped working until further notice,’ the sector is once again establishing itself as one of the growth engines of the Spanish economy.
The contribution to the gross domestic product (PIB in Spanish) of this sector during the second three months of the year reached figures unheard of since the beginning of the 21st century, with a growth of 5.8 per cent when compared with the same period of 2014.
Neither the agriculture, the industry or service sectors are recovering to such a high degree. In fact, this growth almost doubles the 3.2 per cent registered for the whole economic scene, which is starting to resemble data registered back in 2007.
In addition, the investment in construction companies has rocketed to 5.1 per cent and the number of employees grew by 9.2 per cent.
