Three Kings arrive
THE THREE Reyes Magos, the Three Kings or Wise Men, will arrive in Torrevieja next Tuesday by boat before parading through the city's streets on their way to the Inmaculada Church.
However, before that, all good boys and girls can drop their 'wish lists' to their favourite King in a special post box which will be installed beside the Bethlehem Nativity Scene. On January 4th their Majesties will send their Royal Pages, to pick up all the letters and there will also be a magic show to enthral kids of all ages. The place to be is where Calle Fotógrafo Darblade and Calle Concepción meet to see the magic of Juan Manuel Marcos at noon and Mago J at 4pm.On Tuesday, the Three Kings, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar, arrive by boat in Torrevieja's harbour at around 5.30pm to be welcomed by girls who have won a writing competition organised by the departments of Fiestas and Education. Rosana Gutiérrez,10, and Paula Aniorte, eight, will welcome the Kings just before they climb on their floats for the parade to start. The tour, after leaving the port, will follow its normal course, running through Calles Ramón y Cajal, Zoa and Ramón Gallud towards the Plaza of the Constitution. For the day, the Archpriest temple of the Immaculate, as is traditional, has been turned into Bethlehem, along with Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus.Come prepared with cameras and empty plastic bags, as there is lots to photograph and those on parade throw hundreds of kilos of sweets into the crowds. The parade usually arrives at the church about 7pm, depending on the numbers in the parade itself, and, after a few words of welcome, the Kings enter the Town Hall, where they throw even more sweets at the gathered crowds.
