Catral Fiesta San Juan

The town of Catral will be celebrating their patron saint; San Juan Bautista from the 3rd to the 26th June 2016. There are many activities planned, all of which are listed in the brochure, below is the translated version of some of the more major events of Catral's Patron Saints Fiesta.

Saturday 4th June

21:00 Parade of the Fiesta Queens and their Ladies in Waiting.

22:30 Election of the new Fiesta Queens and their Ladies in Waiting.

Friday 17th June

00:00 Gathering of the Penas (clubs) for the Charanga Parade. Route: C/Azorín y C/Purísima, y

recorrido: C/Azorín, C/Óscar Esplá, C/Santa Bárbara, Plaza de España, C/García Ortuño, C/Manuel Flores, Avd. Constitución y C/Purísima.

01:00 Partying in the streets Calle Purisima and Avd. Constitución

Saturday 18th June

11:30 Party for the 'Peñistas' (clubs) in the Plaza de España with DJ's, inflatable games, beer and water fights (swimwear is recommended)

13:00 Grand Chupinazo Parade by all the Peñistas through the central streets of Catral. Route: Plaza de España, C/Santa Barbara, Avd. Constitución, C/San Juan finishing in the Plaza de España.

13:30 Fiesta party for all the Peñas and all the public, in the Plaza de Ayuntamiento

20:30 Grand Fancy Dress Parade of the Peñas. Route: C/ Manuel Flores, Avda. La Constitución and C/Purisima

01:00 Partying in Calle Purísima y Avda. Constitución.

Sunday 19th June

08:00 Parade followed by breakfast at the municipal swimming pool

11:00 Inauguration of the municipal swimming pool.

Thursday 23rd June

22:00 Sobaquillo dinner (bring your own food) in the Plaza de la Casa de Cultura – advance reservation necessary 966 11 17 54

00:00 Quema, buring of the Hogueras.

Friday 24th June

08:00 Ringing of the church bells and firing of rockets.

18:30 Parade with the Music Band de la S.U.M. La Constancia to collect the fiesta queens.

19:30 Solemn Mass

20:30 Solemn Procession in honour of San Juan followed by a firework display.

Saturday 25th June

14:00 Mascleta display in the Parque de la Palmera

23:00 Concert in honour of the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in the Plaza de España, followed by the La Banderita Parade and the firing of rockets in C/Santa Bárbara and the Plaza de España.

Sunday 26th June

20:30 Solemn Procession with the statue of Sagrado Corazón de Jesús followed by the traditional firework display.
