Wine and stew tapas prove the perfect pairing
21 Torrevieja eateries offer winter warmers
The first date on Torrevieja's gastronomic calendar this year runs from February 4th-7th with the third edition of the Cazuelica y Vino (stew and wine) event, in which 21 establishments will be involved.
Organised by the Torrevieja and Vega Baja Association of Hospitality Businesses (AEHTC), with the help of the Town Hall, it was presented by Councillor Manuela Osuna and AEHTC president, Joaquín Guillamó and board member Marco Martineti.
The councillor said these events are important to promote local gastronomy by showing off the skills of these professionals with a quality offer that enables people to taste the best food for a price of €2 for the stew and €1.50 for a glass of a wine which must have a Designation of Origin.
Amongst the stews the restaurants will prepare are local specialities with ingredients including seafood like octopus, skate and cuttlefish, as well as meat dishes like oxtail with chickpeas, cheek or beef with different sauces.
Each restaurant has chosen a wine to accompany the two stews it will prepare, which have Designations of Origin from Rioja, Castilla de Mancha, Alicante, Ribera del Duero and Campo de Borja.
“People have asked for quality and quantity from their stews so that whoever tastes them is satisfied,” said Guillamó. He also revealed that the association is working on a new event which they hope the Town Hall will help them with.
Martineti said this event is designed to enable both big and small restaurants to participate because “the association is for everyone”.
The councillor encouraged the public to come and try this activity and hospitality businesspeople to join an association that is going from strength to strength.
